This Cookie Policy explains how Any Company ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites and in our web app, what each cookie is for, how long it lasts, and how you can control it.

## What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let a site recognise your browser on later visits, keep you signed in, and help the site owner understand how the site is used.

Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called **first-party cookies**. Cookies set by another organisation are called **third-party cookies**. The Google Analytics cookies we use are first-party cookies: they are set on our own domain, although the data they collect is processed by Google on our behalf.

## Where this policy applies

This policy covers:

* **Our website pages** on any.company (the public pages, help, events, newsletter, opportunities and similar pages).
* **The Any Company web app**, which runs in your browser.

The mobile apps for Android and iOS do not use browser cookies. How they process data is described in our Privacy Policy.

## Cookies we use

### Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how our website and web app are used: which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and which features are used. This helps us fix problems and improve the service.

These cookies store a randomly generated identifier for your browser. They do not contain your name, email address or account details, and we do not use them to identify you personally.

Notes:

* The part of a cookie name after `_ga_` is the identifier of the Google Analytics property that set it.
* Many browsers limit how long a cookie may last. Google Chrome, for example, caps cookie lifetimes at 400 days, so in practice these cookies may expire sooner than the default of 2 years.
* Each cookie's lifetime is renewed when you visit again.

### Where they are set

* **Website pages** (any.company): all four cookies above, on the domain `.any.company`.
* **Web app**: all four cookies above, on the domain `.any.company`. If you open the web app through stocktech.org, `_ga` and `_ga_2R5RBMN7E2` are set on the domain `.stocktech.org` instead.

### Sign-in and session

When you are signed in, we use a browser cookie, local storage and IndexedDB to keep you signed in and to store the data the web app needs to work. These are needed to provide the service you asked for, and the web app will not work correctly without them. They are not used for advertising.

If you sign in with LinkedIn or another identity provider, that provider may set its own cookies while you sign in. Those cookies are controlled by the provider and are covered by the provider's own cookie and privacy policies.

## Other technologies

* **Local storage and IndexedDB.** The web app stores settings and working data (for example your preferences and locally cached information) in your browser's local storage and IndexedDB. This data stays in your browser until you clear it, log out, or the app removes it.
* **Google Tag Manager.** Google Tag Manager loads our analytics tag. It does not set cookies of its own, but it may send technical information such as your IP address to Google when the page loads.

## Managing and deleting cookies

You can control cookies at any time:

* **Browser settings.** Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies for all sites or for individual sites. Blocking the analytics cookies will not stop you from using our website or web app. Blocking strictly necessary storage (sign-in and session) will stop you from signing in.
* **Deleting existing cookies.** Clearing your browser's cookies and site data for any.company removes the cookies listed above. Clearing site data also removes local storage and IndexedDB data, and signs you out.
* **Google Analytics opt-out.** Google provides a browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
* **Do Not Track and privacy tools.** Privacy-focused browsers and extensions that block trackers will also stop the analytics cookies from being set.

Where you block or delete cookies, some settings that depend on them (such as being remembered on your next visit) may need to be chosen again.
