# Any.Company — Help Guide

Welcome! This guide walks through every part of the app, in plain language, organised the way you'll actually use it: getting oriented, staying findable (or not) the way you want, keeping events running smoothly, and managing the documents, sponsors, and sharing tools around them.

Tip: use your reader's search to jump to a section title below.

## 1. Getting started

Open the app menu (hamburger icon) to find your quick actions at the top: **Camera** (post a photo), **Calendar** (Planning Ahead), and the **shield icon** (Location Privacy). These three are your most-used shortcuts — pin this section mentally.

You can hold more than one identity or persona inside the app. Different groups and events may recognise you differently depending on which one you're using — that's intentional, and lets you keep, say, a professional persona separate from a social one.

---

## 2. Planning Ahead & your Social Score

**Where:** menu → calendar icon.

Planning Ahead shows your next 7 days as a scrollable list of **Day Summaries**.

- The **current day** is shown in blue with the time remaining until your next event.
- Events you've **joined or accepted** show in black.
- Events you're **invited to but haven't answered** show in grey.
- Events you **declined** show in grey with strikethrough.
- The distance to the event (in metres) is shown on the right, next to the menu button.

Tap the menu button on any Day Summary for: **Read more**, **Cancel RSVP** (asks for confirmation), **Join** (if you'd previously cancelled), **Agenda** (jump straight to the event's agenda), **Members**, **History** (past events from the same group), or **Join group** (if you're not yet a member).

Each event row also shows its **sponsors** as small buttons — tap one to see the sponsor, or tap **"Sponsor this event"** if there isn't one yet to see the ways you can support it.

**No plans on a day?** You'll see three suggestions:
- **Ship this day** — dismiss the day from your list.
- **Find events nearby** — opens event search for that date.
- **Open to suggestions** — tell the app what time you're free from (2pm / 5pm / 8pm) so relevant plans can find you.

**Your Social Score** sits at the top of the page and reflects your last 30 days of activity:

| Action | Points |
|---|---|
| Attending an event | 5 |
| Being "Open to connect" | 1 |
| Meeting someone via "Open to connect" | 10 |
| Inviting someone to join the app | 5 |
| Sponsoring an event | 5 |
| Sending a meeting opportunity | 2 |
| Someone agreeing to meet you | 2 |

## 3. Location Privacy

**Where:** menu → shield icon, or the **"Who can see my location"** button at the bottom of the Locations page, or your Profile page. You can also set this per group from that group's **Group Details** page — group-level settings always take priority over your personal defaults, so you can safely share more with groups you trust without changing your global behaviour.

Your controls:

- **Location sharing (on/off)** — the master switch for a group or globally. Turning it off stops your location being shared with that group's members entirely. You'll always be asked to confirm before switching.
- **Licence agreement** — if a group has defined its own location-sharing licence, this is where you accept or withdraw from it. If you don't agree, the app's standard licence applies instead.
- **Exact location at distance** — when on, members see your precise location even while you're far from the event. *Requires an account older than 6 months.* When off, distant members only see how far you are.
- **Exact location when near** — when on, members see your exact position once you enter the "near" radius around an event. When off, you stay approximate even up close.
- **Notify on nearby** — lets group members get a notification when you enter the nearby area.
- **Notify on arrival** — lets group members get a notification when you actually arrive.
- **Nearby radius** — a slider (100 / 150 / 500 / 1000 m) defining what "near the event" means for the two settings above.
- **Visibility cut-off radius** — a slider (1,000 / 2,500 / 5,000 / 10,000 m) defining the distance beyond which you stop being visible at all.

Every toggle here explains exactly what turning it on or off changes before you confirm — read the confirmation text, since the wording is different for each control.

## 4. Protected Locations

**Where:** menu → shield icon → "Setup Protected Locations", or directly from the Protected Locations page.

Protected Locations let you mark places (home, work, anywhere you don't want tracked) that override every other setting above, including Meet & Chat.

**Important — read this carefully:**
- Protected Locations are stored **only on the device where you create them**, in that device's secure local storage.
- They are **never sent to our servers**.
- They do **not** sync between your devices — if you use a phone and a tablet, set them up separately on each.
- They are lost if you log out or uninstall the app on that device.

While you're within a Protected Location's radius, the app stops sending your live position and instead keeps reporting your last known position from before you entered — so your movement inside that zone stays invisible to everyone.

To add one: go to the Protected Locations page and add your current location.

## 5. Open to "Meet & Chat"

Look for the **"Meet and chat?"** button, which appears on several pages including the main page.

**Starting a session:** tap the button, choose a nearby location, and set how long you'll be around. Your persona and topics become visible to other users, and — this is the important part — **Meet & Chat overrides everything in Location Privacy except Protected Locations**. While your session is active, any user can see your exact location once they're within 200 m of your declared point.

**Checking your status:** while a session is running, the button changes to **"Waiting to chat"** and shows your remaining time. Tap it to see your session details.

**Ending early:** open your session details and tap **"Stop sharing my location"**, then confirm you want to suspend the session.

**A note on safety:** Meet & Chat is an invitation, not an obligation. It's fine to not show up, to leave, or to end the session whenever you want — balance the opportunity to connect against your own comfort and safety, and remember other users may notice you're nearby while the session is live.

## 6. Consent — what you're agreeing to, and how to change your mind

Some group actions — joining, chatting, being visible to others — are gated by **consent requirements** the group's organiser has configured. When you hit one, you'll see a dialogue listing every requirement:

- Each item shows an icon, a title, and a plain-language explanation.
- Items marked **required** (bold, with an asterisk) must be accepted to continue; everything else is your choice.
- Everything starts **pre-selected** — review it, untick anything you don't want, then tap **"I consent"**, or **Cancel** to back out (you'll get a confirmation that the joining process was cancelled).
- Tap any item to see the full picture: what accepting enables, what declining prevents, how long it lasts if it's time-limited, and a "read more" link if the organiser provided one.
- Some capabilities depend on how long you've already held another consent (e.g., "must have agreed to X for 100 days"). If you're not eligible yet, the option is disabled and tapping it explains what's missing.

**Changing your mind later:** open **Consent Overview** from your profile to see everything you've agreed to, grouped by group/event/person, by consent, or by capability.

- **Revoke** removes the consent — for a required one, this may remove you from the group or capability it gates.
- **Suspend** is a middle ground: your consent record stays, but your data stops being used under it, and its title greys out until you resolve it. Use this when you're reconsidering, not ready to fully commit to revoking.
- From here you can also request **deletion** or a **download** of the data tied to a specific consent.

## 7. Documents

**Where:** a group's Documents page.

**Finding things:** use the filter menu (hamburger icon) to show/hide document types and to sort by name, date, or size — tap a sort option again to flip ascending/descending. Quick size filters (Small/Medium/Large) are always available and mutually exclusive; thresholds differ for files (2 MB / 200 MB cut-offs) versus images (32×32 / 48×48 / 64×64 px).

**Views:** switch between **List** and **Thumbnails** at the top. Either view can be grouped — by event, by date, or by uploader — into collapsible sections.

**The cloud icon** next to an item tells you if it's synced with the server yet; a solid cloud means it's still catching up.

**Tap the menu (⋮) on any document for:**
- **View / Download** — fetches a secure, temporary link from the server.
- **Delete** — you'll be asked to choose **"Delete for me"** (just your copy) or **"Delete from everyone"** (removes it for the whole group) — choose deliberately.
- **Share** — send it on, subject to your sharing permission.
- **Permissions** — (owners/organisers) set who can list, view, download, rename, delete, or share this item, and whether any of those actions need organiser approval first.
- **Flag** — report a problem, picking one or more categories (Off-topic, Copyright, Dangerous, Privacy, False, Scam or fraud, Child safety, Inappropriate, Violence, Hate or discrimination, Spam).
- **Media** — opens a simple "Impact Tracking" view showing the document's title, upload date, and thumbnail.

**If an action needs approval:** you'll see a note that organisers will review it, then a brief "Request sent" confirmation. It's normal for these to take a little longer than an instant action.

**Folders:** you can create and rename folders; a folder can only be deleted once it's empty.

**Thumbnails view extras:** like/love counters and a share button that opens social sharing options for that image.

## 8. Event Agenda (for hosts and attendees)

### As an attendee

Your **Current Activity** view shows what's happening now, a countdown (green) or overtime (red), a link to the full agenda, the next event date, and notable attendees.

If the activity is a **Table Round**, you'll be asked which table/team you're at; once entered, you'll see everyone else at your table. If no speaker's been chosen yet, you can pick one from the list — once chosen, the picker disappears for everyone at the table.

At the end of activities you may be asked to **vote** (on speakers/topics) or give **feedback** on your own experience — these are quick multi-question prompts. If the host chooses, an anonymised summary is shared with everyone afterward.

### As a host

Build your event in the **Agenda composer**: name your activity steps (e.g., "Welcoming", "Story Selection", "Table round", "Reflection", "Closing"), attach voting/feedback question sets, and arrange the running order.

While running the event, use the **activity stepper** to move between steps. For each activity, choose a timer — a fixed duration (e.g., 10 or 7 minutes) or open-ended — then **Pause** or **Stop** as needed. Stopping opens the **Next Activity** panel, where you can also choose to **rotate teams** before continuing. Activities marked as repeating offer a **"New round"** button once finished, adding another round to the agenda on the spot.

You can also set a welcome message (shown at the start) and a closing message (shown at the end) for the whole event.

---

## 9. Sponsors

**Where:** a group's Sponsors page (organisers can also reach it from the group editor).

The page lists current sponsors with their icon and name. Organisers can add, edit, re-order, re-rate (up to 5 stars), or remove a sponsor — each of those actions asks for confirmation first.

**Sponsorship tiers** (defined by the organiser) typically look like:

| Stars | Visibility | Suggested value |
|---|---|---|
| ★★★★★ | Shown in members' calendars and on event social posts | 100+ GBP |
| ★★★★ | Shown in event search results | 30 GBP |
| ★★★ | Shown on the event details page | 15 GBP |
| ★★ | Visible to event members only | 5 GBP |
| ★ | Anonymous donation | any amount, min 2 GBP |

**To sponsor an event:** tap **"Sponsor this event"**, pick a benefit tier, then pick a sponsoring method (payment link) matching that tier — if only one applies, it's pre-selected. You can adjust the amount, but never below the method's minimum.

Organisers separately manage the underlying **Sponsoring Methods** (the actual payment links, titles, suggested/minimum values) and, if a sponsor is also selling something, their **product listing** (logo, organisation info, product link, type, price, and location).

## 10. Sharing photos to social media

Tap the **camera** icon from the main menu, take your photo, and you'll land on a preview screen.

1. Choose whether to **embed your location** in the photo.
2. Choose **where to share it** — options depend on what you've connected on your Profile page (Any.Company, Facebook, LinkedIn, X). The first time you enable a network, you'll be walked through providing an API key, which is stored securely on your device only — you can remove it later, with a confirmation step, from your profile.
3. Before the post goes out, you'll be asked to **tie it to an event** — pick from nearby events, type a title to create one, or choose **"Name later"** to skip.

Once shared, your post appears in a running list showing its link, coordinates, timestamp, title, and tags. From its menu (⋮) you can **delete it from social media**, **edit its info**, or **set/change its event**.

---

## 11. Advertising Opportunities

Opportunities are shareable links for things worth passing on — a shopping deal, a job, a travel plan, a drink & chat invite, a meetup, free snacks, or introducing someone to you. Unlike a personal invite, an **Opportunity doesn't require the recipient to have an account** — it's claimed by redeem code and carries no built-in reference back to you unless you choose to include one.

When sharing one, you can mark it **important**, attach a **countdown** (with an optional 30-minute-before alert), and save it as a **template** to reuse. Recipients can respond **Close, Interested, Not interested,** or **Forward**.

Keep an eye on the **City Life feed** for opportunities and nearby events shared by others — filter to **For you**, **Nearby** (by category), or **Others**.

## 12. Troubleshooting & FAQ

**My document/photo isn't showing the latest version.** Check the sync (cloud) icon — if it's still mid-sync, give it a moment on a stable connection.

**I can't turn on "Exact location at distance".** This control needs an account older than 6 months — it will unlock automatically once you pass that mark.

**A consent option is greyed out / disabled.** You likely haven't met an age/tenure requirement tied to it yet. Tap it to see exactly what's missing.

**I stopped a Meet & Chat session but people can still find me.** Location sharing under Meet & Chat stops the moment you confirm "Suspend session" — if others can still see you, it's likely through your ordinary Location Privacy or Group settings instead; check Section 3.

**My Protected Locations disappeared.** They live only on the device you set them on and are wiped by logout/uninstall — re-add them on your current device.

**Where do I read the full Privacy Policy?** In-app (before login on the registration page, and after login on your Profile page), on our website, and on the Google Play and Apple App Store listing pages.

**Still stuck?** Reach us through the in-app support channel.
